A little more about me and my offerings!
Read moreNavigating the new normal
Thank you.
The night before I closed my business to the public I was wide awake in the middle of the night. I thought about as much as I claim to be introverted, social distancing was digging deep into my gut. I thrive off the energy of my students. I learn so much from you all I miss you all. When we are not allowed to see anyone, how desperately I wish to see my loved ones; especially with the severity of this pandemic and how many people it has already affected. It’s a double edged sword. I wish to see my loved ones, but for their safety I cannot. I know you all must be going through something similar. As this month has gone by, navigating this new normal has gotten maybe slightly easier in some ways, but it’s still exhausting, stressful, and unknown.
I can’t thank you all enough, those who have come to my streaming classes, those who have paid early for when we can see each other again in real life, those who are continuing to take private classes with me. You have helped me get through the next few weeks without as much worry. In no way do I want to press any one to work online who isn’t interested, who is too exhausted, or who financially cannot commit right now. I completely understand. I am in the same situation. I also feel so overwhelmed with online content right now, it’s difficult to even keep track sometimes. I think the most important thing I keep reminding myself is to support my local businesses in whatever way I can, as many of you have supported me.
As I have transitioned to teaching live streaming classes, the bumps for me are smoothing out a bit, although honestly, this is an exhausting process to get these types of classes off the ground. Online teaching is a whole new ballgame. I am grateful for the push in some ways. I have always thought about having more of an online presence for my content and this seems like it might be a start of that venture for me. Of course there is always the fear in the back of my head that the internet will get too glitchy, that no one will show up, that I will have forgotten to add someone to a list of classes. The silver lining is that I am grateful to be keeping busy, I don’t think I could watch The Great British Bake ALL DAY…but maybe I could…
Please remember to get outside. To stretch your hips, your feet, your upper back and neck! I am offering quick and simple exercises you can do at home right now, often from the very chair or couch from which you are sitting right now! I am posting those videos to my Instagram and YouTube pages. I hope you will follow me!
Again Thank you.
YOUR HOMONES AFFECT YOUR FASCIA
Exciting new research showing that you are MORE FLEXIBLE during ovulation up to menses and you are STIFFER during your period and the week after. Now if you are a woman reading this, you might be like “Well duh!” but this is VALIDATION for how our bodies feel and change during the month. Not to mention the change women go through during pregnancy! The article mentions a study on how female athletes are more likely to get injured during ovulation through menses since our fascial tissue is looser at that point. Something to think about as you move through your month!

This also just redefines how much Pilates and the SmartSpine™ System can help keep our bodies strong, but also moving fluidly. The heat of the SmartSpine™ products help teach correct alignment of the spine and pelvis so we can move more easily with better alignment. The heat gives us extra help to feel our body blind spots during class and hopefully take that awareness with us out of the studio. The more aware we are of how our body feels (through our own developed habits and what our bodies do naturally) the more likely we are to stay injury free!
